The goal of Marine Sea Grant Undergraduate Scholarship in Marine Science program is to develop a statewide network of undergraduate scholars doing exemplary academic work on marine and coastal issues, and provide participating students with academic and professional development opportunities in their field. The program is open to current second- and third-year undergraduate students who have declared majors related to marine or coastal issues at any of the participating undergraduate institutions in Maine.

The selected student is matched with an Oregon business to create sustainability solutions for industry practices. Project topics include energy or water audits, toxics reduction, green chemistry, and life cycle assessment. Open to any college student in Oregon with junior or senior standing, or attaining graduate or advanced undergraduate training.

Microplastics & Marine Debris Summer Internship
The internship is designed to provide practical research and outreach experience focusing on the topic of microplastics in the environment. The intern will work closely with researchers and educators at the Marine Education Center and Aquarium and Skidaway Institute of Oceanography on Skidaway Island, Georgia. Internship projects will include activities such as field sampling, processing and analysis of samples in the laboratory and disseminating information to groups of all ages. Open to currently students who are enrolled in an institution of higher education.

Aquarium Science Internship
To provide experiential learning opportunities and practical work experience in the field of aquarium science. The selected intern assists aquarium curators with animal husbandry and general aquarium operations, utilizes skills and knowledge gathered during undergraduate studies, works in an environment conducive to learning and professional growth. Open to undergraduate student enrolled in classes prior to and post internship and be able to provide enrollment documentation. Applicants should have the physical ability to work outdoors in summer heat and lift objects > 50 lbs.

The goal of the Connecticut Sea Grant (CTSG) Undergraduate Research Fellowship is to broaden participation of underrepresented/underserved students in marine and coastal professions by providing early career experience, training and mentorship to the next generation of scientists, decision makers, and marine industry professionals. Selected students will conduct independent research under the guidance of a Research Mentor. Open to undergraduate students enrolled at an accredited 2- or 4-year college or university located in Connecticut.

Woods Hole Diversity Advisory Committee

Woods Hole Partnership Education Program
Spend a summer gaining practical experience in marine and environmental science. The program consists of a four-week course and a ten-week research project Ð all in the sea-side village of Woods Hole. The Partnership Education Program is designed for college students, with priority given to rising juniors and seniors, majoring in the natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, or geosciences and earth system sciences), engineering, mathematics or social sciences, who have had some course work in oceanography, biology, or marine and/or environmental science.

The Explorer-in-Training Program interns gain valuable, interdisciplinary experience in ocean exploration while collaborating on OER projects and expeditions. Open to currently enrolled students (undergraduate or graduate) or students who have already graduated, but whose graduation date is within a year of the application date (i.e., gap-year students); students must be enrolled in or have received a degree from an accredited academic institution in the US. Degree, major, or intent to major in STEM fields, social sciences, communications, education, business operations/administration, and ocean policy/management.

Students will develop research projects ranging from limnology, fisheries biology, conservation and spatial ecology, molecular ecology, and microbial ecology in collaboration with CMU faculty to gain hands-on experience in all parts of the scientific process, from experimental design through data dissemination and translation. Students will engage with multiple stakeholders (e.g. government, private, and cultural) who have interests in Great Lakes resources and will learn to communicate their science to these groups.
